What does defective mainboard on a sony network walkman nw-e307 mean? is this a factory defect? - cant see sony network camera snc-z20

I recently bought this camera .. Unfortunately, after only the first loading unit wont turn on.I CTR is a service from Sony and they said, caused by the defective motherboard .. what could cause this? is that the standard factory? Service Center can not answer these questions on the grounds of raison d'etat. Thank you!
